80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Don Bosco High School and Jr. College, Naigaon, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 with great patriotic fervour, enthusiasm, and pride. In the days leading up to the celebration, several activities, including essay writing, quiz, and drawing competitions, were organised to foster a spirit of patriotism and create greater awareness and appreciation for the nation among the students.

The programme commenced with a grand ceremonial entry by the Scouts and Guides, who escorted the members of the Management. This was followed by a lively introduction and the rendition of Vande Mataram, the National Anthem, the State Anthem, and the Flag Song. The soulful singing of these patriotic compositions united the gathering in a shared expression of love and pride for the nation, creating an atmosphere filled with deep emotion and patriotic fervour.

The students then presented patriotic speeches and poems celebrating the nation while also encouraging the audience to reflect on the challenges facing the country today. Addressing the gathering, the Rector, Rev. Fr. Royal D’Abreo, reminded the students that freedom is not merely about enjoying rights but also about recognising and fulfilling one's duties and responsibilities as citizens. He encouraged them to reflect on the kind of India they wished to see, both in the present and in the future. He posed an important question: Do we aspire for an India free from evils and corruption, and a peaceful nation where people of all backgrounds can live together in harmony? He further urged the students to understand that the India of their dreams can be built through their everyday actions—whenever they respect one another, take responsibility for their actions, and practise honesty and integrity. He emphasised that meaningful change begins with each individual and that responsible citizens have an important role to play in shaping the future of the nation.

The celebration continued with a vibrant and captivating dance performance by the students of the Secondary Section, which added colour, energy, and enthusiasm to the programme. The Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca expressed his appreciation to the students and staff for their enthusiastic participation, impressive performances, and disciplined conduct, which contributed greatly to the success of the celebration.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Management, staff, students, and all those who contributed to making the Independence Day celebration a memorable and meaningful occasion.
